Google is making AI learning tools more accessible. Its smart note-taking assistant, NotebookLM, has expanded the reach of its AI podcast tool, Audio Overviews, to 76 new languages. This feature lets users turn uploaded documents into podcast-style summaries — all generated by AI.

Launched last year, Audio Overviews helps users better understand dense material. It creates a spoken version of documents, using AI virtual hosts to present key points. It works with a variety of files, including study guides, legal documents, or research papers.

Until now, these overviews only played in your account’s default language. But that’s changing. Google has introduced a new “Output Language” setting. Now, you can choose which language you want your Audio Overview to play in — and change it anytime.

This is a big win for global learners. It allows students, teachers, and professionals to consume content in the language they’re most comfortable with. For example, a teacher creating a lesson on the Amazon rainforest can upload materials in Spanish, English, and Portuguese. Students can then listen to the summary in Hindi, French, or any other preferred language.

Google says this update will help users study smarter and create multilingual content with ease. It also makes collaboration easier across language barriers.

The update covers a wide range of languages. These include global staples like Arabic, Hindi, Chinese (both Simplified and Traditional), French, Spanish, and German. It also includes regional languages like Basque, Haitian Creole, Konkani, Maithili, and Sindhi.

A few highlights:

  • Asian languages: Tamil, Urdu, Japanese, Korean, Telugu, Thai, Vietnamese
  • European languages: Polish, Romanian, Dutch, Swedish, Finnish, Catalan
  • Middle Eastern & African languages: Hebrew, Persian, Pashto, Swahili
  • More global picks: Filipino, Malay, Azerbaijani, Georgian, Latin

Google is positioning NotebookLM as more than just a tool — it wants it to become your personal learning assistant, no matter where you’re from or what you speak. This update brings that vision closer to reality.

If you’re working on a research paper, prepping for exams, or creating content for a global audience, Audio Overviews now meet you where you are — in your language.
