Contoro Robotics has just secured $12 million in Series A funding to scale its cutting-edge AI-driven robots that automate one of the toughest jobs in logistics: unloading trailers and containers. The investment marks a major step forward in warehouse automation, helping businesses tackle labor shortages and operational inefficiencies.

Major Backers Join to Accelerate Warehouse Automation

The Series A round brought in heavyweight investors including Doosan Investment, Coupang, the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund, and IMM. Existing investors SV Investment, KB Investment, Kakao Ventures, and Future Play also returned with renewed support. This brings Contoro’s total funding to $22 million—a strong signal of investor confidence in its AI-first approach to warehouse robotics.

AI Cracks One of Logistics’ Last Manual Frontiers

Unloading floor-loaded, multi-SKU trailers has long been a bottleneck for automation. These trailers come packed with an unpredictable mix of box sizes and shifting loads, making them hard for traditional robots to manage. Contoro’s solution stands out by combining advanced grasping technology, customer-specific AI models, and a human-in-the-loop design to adapt in real-time and achieve over 99% accuracy in unloading tasks.

Dr. Mok Yun, CEO and founder of Contoro Robotics, emphasized the impact:
“Trailer unloading is one of the most physically intense and injury-prone jobs in a warehouse. Our AI-powered robots improve safety and efficiency while freeing up warehouse workers for higher-value roles.”

Why Investors Are Betting Big on Contoro

As logistics companies face mounting labor shortages and rising wages, the need for scalable automation has never been more urgent. Contoro offers a practical solution with a proven return on investment. Its robots are already cutting unloading times in half and saving hundreds of labor hours monthly at customer sites.

“Trailer unloading remains one of the most labor-heavy processes in logistics,” said Franziska Bossart, Head of the Amazon Industrial Innovation Fund. “Contoro’s unique end effector and teleoperation-enhanced AI offer a promising path to solving this challenge.”

Doosan Investment echoed that sentiment, noting Contoro’s strong alignment with their mission to back disruptive technologies that complement the broader Doosan ecosystem.

What’s Next: Expansion and Smarter Automation Tools

Armed with new capital, Contoro is preparing to rapidly expand its robot fleet across warehouses, distribution centers, and e-commerce fulfillment hubs. The company is also gearing up to launch its next big innovation—a next-gen AI-powered palletizing system to streamline downstream logistics processes.

By enabling faster, safer, and more cost-effective trailer unloading, Contoro is positioning itself as a go-to automation partner for logistics companies seeking scalable, human-centric robotics.
