Hopper is stepping out of stealth mode with a clear mission: to help companies deal with the chaos of open source security. Backed by $7.6 million in seed funding, the startup says it’s here to solve a growing problem in modern software development—without slowing teams down.

The company was founded by Roy Gottlieb and Oron Gutman. Its name is a tribute to Grace Hopper, a pioneer in computer science. But the real innovation lies in its platform, which aims to make securing open source code faster, more accurate, and a whole lot less noisy.

For many developers, traditional security tools like software composition analysis (SCA) fall short. They often trigger endless alerts, flag issues without context, and leave teams chasing false alarms. Hopper was built to change that.

Its platform digs deeper into code to pinpoint real risks. It can detect exactly where a vulnerability lives, even across thousands of lines. Hopper also supports complex web frameworks, finds hidden bugs, and discovers assets automatically. Best of all, it works without needing agents or changes to your CI pipeline.

Gottlieb says Hopper isn’t just another SCA tool. The goal is to cut through the noise and help teams focus on what really matters. With its function-level reachability and developer-friendly design, Hopper gives security and engineering teams a shared view of risk—without the burnout.

The $7.6 million round was led by Meron Capital, with support from New Era, the Sequoia Scout Fund, M-Fund, and several angel investors. The funding will help Hopper grow its team and bring its product to more developers.

As software becomes more complex and reliant on open source, security can’t be an afterthought. Hopper wants to be the go-to platform that helps teams build faster, safer, and with confidence—without all the noise.
